South Delhi: A private school in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash area received a bomb threat via email and it turned out to be a hoax as nothing suspicious was found after a thorough check, officials said on Friday.

The mail was received by the school around midnight. The email said that a bomb had been planted on the school’s premises, they said.

Thorough checking was done by a bomb detection team and nothing suspicious was found, a police officer said and added that a dog squad was also deployed for the search.

Further probe is underway, he said and declared the threat a hoax.

Meanwhile, two months earlier, Delhi woke up to the same but more horrific incident when nearly 100 schools across the national capital received emails threatening to blow the educational institutions. The students were evacuated, and panicked parents flocked to schools following the notification of threat emails to local police.

Bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, and personnel from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) were rushed to schools after police received calls about a bomb threat. Delhi Police said they thoroughly checked all schools that received bomb threats but found nothing suspicious.

“Some schools in Delhi received emails regarding bomb threats. Delhi Police have thoroughly checked all such schools as per protocol,” read a statement from Delhi Police on X.

“Nothing objectionable has been found. It appears that these calls are likely to be a hoax. We urge the public not to panic and maintain peace,” the statement continued.

Multiple private schools in Noida and Greater Noida were also targeted by the bomb threat.

Rohini DCP Gurbiqbal Singh and Shahdara DCP Surendra Chaudhary informed Patriot that eight schools in the Rohini district and 10 schools in Shahdara received such threats.

East Delhi reported 24 instances of such threats, North East Delhi has reported three, West Delhi has reported 13, Dwarka has reported over 15, while eight schools in the South East Delhi district received threat emails.

In response to the incident, Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena said that he had spoken to the Delhi police commissioner and requested a detailed report on the bomb threats at schools in Delhi-NCR.
