With an exciting Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals scheduled for Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory to manage the expected surge in traffic.

According to the advisory released on Tuesday, commuters are advised to avoid key routes—Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, and the Ring Road stretch near Rajghat—between 4 PM and 11:30 PM. The advisory warns of significant congestion in the vicinity of the stadium due to the movement of spectators.

“Traffic congestion is likely in the surrounding areas of the stadium due to spectator movement. People are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid the affected routes during match hours,” the police advisory stated.

Only vehicles with valid parking passes will be permitted in designated parking zones around the stadium. Spectators have been urged to use public transport, especially the Delhi Metro, to ease travel. The closest metro stations are Delhi Gate (Gate No. 4) and ITO (Gate Nos. 3 and 4), both on the Violet Line.

Heavy vehicles and buses will be barred from Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, and the Ring Road stretch from Darya Ganj to Rajghat and Guru Nanak Chowk to Delhi Gate during the restricted hours.

The match is expected to draw large crowds, particularly after Delhi Capitals’ spirited performance in their last outing. In a thrilling encounter, they edged past Gujarat Titans in a low-scoring match, thanks to a disciplined bowling display and a gritty chase led by captain Rishabh Pant. The win gave Delhi Capitals a much-needed boost in the points table and added momentum as they return to their home turf for this crucial fixture.
