
Tremors were felt in Delhi and adjoining areas late Tuesday after a 4.9-magnitude earthquake hit Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) — the nodal government agency monitoring earthquake activity — the epicentre was located at a depth of 13 km in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli.
The quake, which logged 4.9 magnitude on the Richter’s scale, hit at 10:23 pm, the NCS added.
The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) also reported that the earthquake struck at approximately 10.23 pm with its epicentre at a depth of 13 km in Chamoli district.

Several parts of the Himalayan state, including Dehradun, also experienced tremors, prompting people to rush out of their homes.
However, officials said that there have been no reports of any damage so far.
