
Two men have been arrested for allegedly injuring a jewellery shop employee with a surgical blade and robbing him of his iPhone and gold chain in Sonia Vihar area of northeast Delhi, police said on Saturday.
The victim, Pramod Yadav (32), who works at a jewellery shop in Chandni Chowk, was returning home after parking his car near Pushta Road on August 12 when the accused allegedly intercepted him on a service road and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing with his iPhone and gold chain, which left him with serious injuries, they said.
Yadav was initially taken to JPC Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Shalimar Bagh, where he was admitted to the ICU and underwent surgery, police said.
A case was registered at Sonia Vihar police station under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and further investigation was launched.
The accused — Salman (21) and Salman alias Mubashir (21) — were arrested from near Chauhan Patti following an investigation.
The victim’s iPhone was recovered from the accused, while the robbed gold chain, weighing around 24 grams, was recovered along with pawn documents.
Police also recovered Rs 1.03 lakh allegedly received after the chain was pawned and the surgical blade used in the attack.
