Two killed, three injured as BMW hits e-rickshaw in Noida

A speeding BMW collided with an e-rickshaw on Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of two people, police reported.

Three others who were aboard the e-rickshaw were hospitalised with injuries, according to the police.

Two occupants of the BMW have been detained by the local police, while a third individual remains at large.

“Around 6 am, the e-rickshaw was traveling from the City Centre towards 12-22 Chowk, carrying five people, including the driver,” a police spokesperson stated.

“When the e-rickshaw approached Sumitra Hospital, a speeding BMW struck it from behind, causing the deaths of two individuals and injuring three others,” the spokesperson added.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Mustafa, 50, and Rashmi, 25, a staff nurse at Metro Hospital.

The injured were identified as e-rickshaw driver Rajendra, 45, Pawan, 27, and Surajpur, 20.

The spokesperson confirmed that Tushar Kumar and Adi Batra, both residents of Sector 41, who were in the BMW at the time of the crash, have been taken into custody by Sector 24 police officials.

Aman Sisodia, the third person in the BMW, fled the scene following the crash and is also a resident of Sector 41, the official added.
