Warm morning in Delhi; Air quality moderate

Delhi recorded a warm Monday morning, with the minimum temperature settling above normal at most weather stations across the national capital.

The minimum temperature at Safdarjung, considered the city’s base station, was recorded at 26.3 degrees Celsius, 0.2 degrees below normal but 0.4 notches higher than the previous 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

At Palam, the minimum temperature settled at 26.9 degrees Celsius, also 0.2 notch below normal, while Ridge recorded 26.8 degrees Celsius, marginally above normal by 0.1 degrees.

Lodi Road was slightly warmer than usual, recording a minimum of 25.4 degrees Celsius, 1.4 notches above normal. Ayanagar recorded 25.8 degrees Celsius, 0.7 notch below normal.

Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category with the average air quality index (AQI) being clocked at 176, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

The maximum temperature is likely to be around 44 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.
