Warm morning in Delhi; air quality moderate

Delhi witnessed a warm morning on Monday, with the minimum temperature settling at 29.2 degrees Celsius, 1.6 notches above the season’s average.

Among the major weather stations, Safdarjung, which is the city’s base station, recorded the highest minimum temperature at 29.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Lodhi Road at 27.8 degrees Celsius, Ridge at 27 degrees Celsius and Palam at 25.5 degrees Celsius.

Ayanagar recorded a minimum temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius, which was 2.3 notches below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The minimum temperature at Lodhi Road was 0.8 notch above normal, while Ridge recorded a temperature 0.6 notch below the seasonal average. Palam registered a minimum temperature 2.7 notches below normal.

The city also received light rainfall at a few stations during the 24 hours ending 8:30 am, with Ayanagar recording 4.7 mm rainfall and Palam 3.8 mm, according to the IMD data.

Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category with the average air quality index (AQI) being clocked at 153, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 42 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.
