‘We struck Pakistan in its heart’: PM Modi hails ‘Operation Sindoor’

Operation Sindoor: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Monday evening after the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Talking about ‘Operation Sindoor’, the PM said that “Pakistan tried to target the border with India, while India attacked the heart of Pakistan.”

In his first address to the nation after ‘Operation Sindoor’, Modi said, “When Indian missiles and drones struck those locations in Pakistan, it wasn’t just the infrastructure of terror networks that was destroyed — their confidence was shaken too. Places like Bahawalpur and Muridke had become breeding grounds for global terrorism. Many major terror incidents around the world, including the 9/11 attacks and major assaults in India, can be traced back to these hubs.”

“India will no longer bow to nuclear threats,” said the PM, asserting that any terrorist attack on the country will be met with a strong and decisive response — one that will be delivered on India’s own terms.

“Operation Sindoor is India’s new policy against terrorism. We have only kept in abeyance our operations against Pakistan and the future will depend on their behaviour,” Modi asserted in a 22-minute address.

The Prime Minister emphasised that any dialogue between India and Pakistan will focus solely on terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Modi reaffirmed India’s firm stance that trade, talks, cannot go hand in hand with terror and blood.

“…The world witnessed the disturbing reality of Pakistan when senior military officials honoured slain terrorists. There can be no clearer evidence of state-sponsored terrorism than this,” said the PM.

“Terrorists had snatched the ‘sindoor’ of our sisters, so India destroyed the headquarters of terror,” the Prime Minister said, adding that over 100 terrorists were eliminated in the operation.

Warning Pakistan, Modi said, “The way the Pakistani military and the government there are helping terrorism flourish there, it will end Pakistan one day. If Pakistan wants to be spared, it has to abolish the terror infrastructure…”

The “Operation Sindoor is more than just a name; it embodies the emotions of millions of Indians. It represents an unwavering commitment to justice. In the late hours of 6 May and the morning of 7 May, the world witnessed this pledge translate into action,” Modi said.

While ending his address to the nation, PM Modi paid his respect to the Indian Army and soldiers. “I once again want to salute the Indian Armed Forces. I also bow to the pledge of every Indian to stay united. Bharat Mata ki Jai,” he said.
