The film has sold over 1.5 lakh tickets through the advance booking window. Nonetheless, it has received a fair share of hate from those who have decided to boycott the film, several of who have been vocal on Twitter.
One video that has gone viral features Ranbir Kapoor from 2011 where he was promoting his film Rockstar, where the lead actor admits his love for beef. This clip has incited outrage among many. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Ranbir and Alia Bhatt were recently prevented from entering Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar temple after members of the Bajrang Dal protested against their entry over Ranbir’s beef remark. Only director Ayan Mukherjee was allowed to take the deity’s blessing.
Having garnered both positive and negative attention, Brahmastra has become the talk of the town. With PVR and INOX sharing posts of over 1 lakh and 1.5 lakh tickets being booked for the first week, respectively, the film is set to score the highest opening for any Bollywood film after the pandemic.
The movie, to which its director has admittedly spent the last 10 years of his life, seems to be doing well at the Box Office as far as its business in Delhi is concerned.
Majority of the shows in 2D have not been booked till now, but 3D and IMAX are filling fast. The evening and night shows are being booked quickly, with most of them reported to have been booked to nearly 60% occupancy, which are great numbers, especially in the post Covid era.
The film has managed to clock Rs 10.55 crore by advance booking by Wednesday leaving behind the opening business done by other big-ticket movies such as RRR and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Based on word of mouth, it seems that Brahmastra is going to have an opening day collection of around Rs 25-30 crore and an opening weekend of around Rs 70-80 crores.
