
A 79-year-old woman was discovered deceased in her residence in the Jia Sarai area of southwest Delhi, with an injury to her neck, according to the police.
On Sunday, at approximately 11 pm, Kishangarh police station received a PCR call regarding the incident, senior police official said.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police found the body of Krishna Devi, a woman, in a pool of blood, with a deep neck wound.
The police said that Mamta, who operates a small kitchen for students, used to supply food to Krishna Devi.
On Sunday, at around 9:30 pm, Mamta arrived to deliver food but discovered that the lights were off. She called someone from the second floor and found Krishna Devi lying in her room. There have been no indications of robbery or burglary thus far, police said.
They said that the body was taken to Safdarjung Hospital for an autopsy, and the crime scene was examined by the forensics team, according to the police.
A murder case under Section 302 of the IPC has been filed at Kishangarh police station, and the investigation is ongoing, they added. (With inputs from PTI)
