The Delhi Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, on Sunday inaugurated the third edition of ‘Van Mahotsav’ at the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary in south Delhi. The event also marked the launch of an online portal for visitors to the sanctuary.

Under the Kejriwal government’s initiative, the ambitious goal is to plant over 52 lakh saplings this year. In addition to that, the New Delhi Municipal Council will be planting an extra 50 lakh plants and shrubs. As part of the event, free medicinal plants were distributed to all attendees.

During the ceremony, Minister Rai emphasized the government’s commitment to combat pollution and expand Delhi’s green cover. He encouraged people to actively participate in the extensive plantation drive and announced the distribution of free medicinal plants across all assembly constituencies.

To enhance visitor experience and engagement, a new online portal, abwls.eforest.delhi.gov.in, was launched specifically for the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary. Additionally, the government introduced the Green Action Plan Portal, which will monitor the monthly progress of the plantation initiatives.

Rai stressed the importance of raising environmental awareness among the public and urged everyone to incorporate tree planting as a way of life to effectively address pollution-related issues.

The ‘Van Mahotsav’ celebrations will continue across various constituencies in Delhi for the next four weeks.
