The 19th edition of the SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan is set to captivate music enthusiasts from November 3 to November 5, 2023, at the iconic Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi. 

The event, organised by Sopori Academy of Music and Performing Arts (SaMaPa), founded by the late Pandit Bhajan Sopori, promises three evenings filled with soul-stirring performances and artistic brilliance.

On Friday, November 3, experience the soulful tunes of Ankush Nayak (Sitar) accompanied by Ustad Akram Khan (Tabla), Ustad Murad Ali Khan (Sarangi) with Shahnawaz Ali, Subhan Ali (Sarangi), and Amaan Ali Khan (Tabla), along with the enchanting vocal performance by Vidushi Shashwati Mandal, supported by Durjay Bhaumik (Tabla) and Paromita Mukherjee (Harmonium). 

The evening will also feature a unique Swarlaya Samwad, showcasing rare instruments Surbahar and Sursingar, presented by Vijay Shankar Mishra, Shyam Rastogi, Joydeep Mukherjee, Ankit Parikh, and Ujith Uday. Continuing the musical journey, Saturday, November 4, brings the soulful tunes of Ajay P. Jha (Mohan Veena) with Zuheb Khan (Tabla), the melodious voice of Vidushi Subhra Guha, accompanied by Sabina Mumtaz, Ram Mishra, and Zakir Dholpuri, and the graceful Kathak Dance performance by Pandit Deepak Maharaj and Ragini Maharaj. 

Concluding the event on Sunday, November 5, witness the magical vocal rendition of Viraj Joshi, harmonized by Ust Akhtar Hasan and Vinay Mishra, the entrancing Santoor performance by Abhay Rustum Sopori, complemented by Ustad Rafiuddin Sabri and Rishi Shankar Upadhyay, and the melodious presentation by vocal maestros  Prabhakar and Diwakar Kashyap, known as Kashyap Bandhu. 

In addition to the enchanting musical performances, the festival will feature a Painting and Photography Exhibition showcasing the talents of artists from Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi.

Meanwhile, it also nnounced the names of recipients of this year’s prestigious SaMaPa awards. SaMaPa Vitasta Samman 2023 is being conferred upon the veteran Pakhawaj maestro Pandit Dalchand Sharma (Delhi) for his lifetime contribution to Hindustani Classical Music (Pakhawaj).

SaMaPa Kala Vardhan Samman 2023 is being conferred upon Rosalin Patasani Mishra of Parichay Foundation (Odisha) for their immense and unparalleled contribution to the field of art and culture.

SaMaPa Nund Rishi Samman 2023 is being conferred upon Shahnaz Rasheed (Jammu and Kashmir) for his immense contribution to the field of Kashmiri literature as a poet and a translator.

SaMaPa Acharya Abhinavgupt Samman 2023 is being conferred upon Avtar Krishen Mota (Delhi) for his immense contribution to the field of Kashmiri art and culture as a writer and a columnist.

SaMaPa Sangeet Tejasvi Samman 2023 is being presented to Prabhakar Kashyap (Chandigarh) and Diwakar Kashyap (Khairagarh) for their achievements and contribution to Hindustani Classical Music (vocal).

SaMaPa Yuva Ratan Samman 2023 is being conferred upon Viraj Joshi (Pune), grandson of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, in recognition of his conspicuous talent and achievements in the field of Hindustani classical music (vocal).

SaMaPa Award of Excellence 2023 is being conferred upon Sadhna Shrivastav for her immense contribution to the field of art and culture as a television and stage presenter, and documentary filmmaker.
