Through this exhibition, Thapar Gallery not only pays tribute to the enduring legacy of these masters but also offers an insightful exploration of the evolution of Modern Indian Art. The curated collection, spanning decades of innovation, showcases diverse themes and styles that foster a visual dialogue among the celebrated works of India’s modernist masters.
Ashish Thapar, Founder of Thapar Gallery, spoke of the exhibition’s significance, stating, “We seek to reinvigorate interest in the works of these Indian masters by presenting them in a way that highlights their relevance in both the historical context and today’s rapidly changing artistic landscape. Our inaugural exhibition emphasises their lasting importance while fostering dialogue through artist-led programs and conservation efforts”.
Thapar also expressed his commitment to making art more accessible to a broader audience, particularly the younger generation. “We want to break down barriers between traditional art spaces and the younger generation of art lovers. By offering curated online content, virtual tours, and educational programs, we aim to make the works of modern masters accessible, especially to those who may not traditionally visit galleries or museums,” he added.
