The second edition of Sustaina India, an art exhibition combining science and art to address climate change, will be held from February 1 to 16 at STIR Art Gallery. This year’s theme, “With each seed we sing,” highlights the importance of community-based solutions to tackle climate challenges.
The exhibition is organised by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and curated by artists Thukral and Tagra and Srinivas Aditya Mopidevi. It will showcase the work of three Sustaina Fellows: Shubhi Sachan, Saraswathi Malluvalasa, and Poludas Nagendra Satish. Their projects focus on sustainable practices that engage local communities.
Sachan, founder of the Material Library of India, will present an installation focused on material literacy and offer a workshop on waste disposal methods. Malluvalasa, founder of Arogya Millet Sisters, will display her efforts in reviving millet farming and empowering rural women. Satish, from Kora Design Collaborative, will highlight the loss of traditional cotton quality and his work to restore it with farming communities.

The exhibition will also feature works by invited artists such as Chander Haat and Edible Issues, discussing topics like food systems and women’s empowerment. Alongside the exhibition, there will be workshops, performances, and discussions.
Thukral & Tagra, co-curators of the exhibition, said, “With climate crises becoming increasingly evident, Sustaina India aims to spotlight essential interventions addressing pressing global challenges.”
Mihir Shah from CEEW added, “The accelerating climate crisis demands more than top-down solutions. Sustaina India 2025 recognizes that effective climate action must be rooted in the communities themselves.”
In addition to the exhibition, Sustaina Weekends will provide interactive sessions and activities, such as storytelling, panel discussions, and workshops. These events will engage the public and offer a deeper understanding of sustainability.
