Renowned Bharatnatyam exponent Apeksha Niranjan is set to debut her recital titled “Nayanam” in Delhi at India Habitat Centre. The performance is scheduled for 7:00 PM on June 14, 2024.
“Nayanam”, meaning “eyes” in Sanskrit, is a thematic exploration of the myriad emotions and expressions conveyed through the eyes.
In Bharatnatyam, the eyes play a pivotal role, serving as a powerful medium of expression, transcending language, race and culture. Through her recital, Apeksha Niranjan will showcase how the eyes serve as a conduit for communication, conveying a spectrum of emotions ranging from joy and love to sorrow and longing.
Speaking about the inspiration behind “Nayanam”, Niranjan said, “Eyes are not just organs of sight; they are portals to our innermost feelings. They hold the power to captivate, to convey the unspoken, and to transport the audience into the heart of the narrative”.
The performance will also touch upon the concept of “Antarchakshu”, highlighting how individuals without physical sight perceive the world through their inner vision, exploring realms beyond the tangible.
Audiences can expect a mesmerising journey through the language of Bharatnatyam, enriched by Apeksha Niranjan’s artistry, grace, crisp footwork, emotive expressions and profound understanding of the classical form.
