The Aayam Institute of Performing Arts is set to present a captivating Bharatanatyam production, Brahmar Geet – An Ode to Lovelorn Gopikas, at the LTG Auditorium, Mandi House, on Saturday, November 30, at 6:30 PM. Featuring Swati Mittal, a disciple of Guru Sindhu Mishra, the performance promises an evening of classical elegance, rooted in poetry and devotion.
The production draws from the poetic masterpiece Brahmar Geet by Surdas, narrating the poignant tale of Krishna’s friend Udhav, a yogi who attempts to guide the lovelorn Gopikas toward Nirgun Yog Sadhana. Their unwavering love and devotion to Krishna, however, teach Udhav that love itself is the ultimate path to the Supreme Being. The story unfolds through a seamless blend of Hindustani and Carnatic music, evoking the spiritual and emotional depths of the Gopikas’ devotion.
Guru Sindhu Mishra, who directed and choreographed the production, said, “Brahmar Geet is a celebration of love and devotion, capturing the essence of human emotions in their purest form. Through this performance, we aim to connect audiences to the timeless teachings of Surdas while showcasing the beauty of Bharatanatyam as a storytelling art form”.

The performance, described as a tribute to themes of love, dedication, and spiritual connection, offers audiences an opportunity to witness the timeless charm of Bharatanatyam combined with the depth of classical Indian poetry. Brahmar Geet promises to be a mesmerizing experience that brings the ageless traditions of Indian classical arts to life.
