
An exhibition “Cut From The Same Cloth” by renowned artist Seema Kohli is going to be held at Bikaner House from July 28 to August 4.
The exhibition, presented by Gallerie NVYA, features a variety of stitched works made from untreated canvas and silk and cotton threads, beads, and sequins. The show looks to be an engrossing investigation of the self and its relationship to the spiritual world.
The exhibition, according to the artist, is a global adventure that blurs the lines between myth and reality and the self and the other. She explores themes of beauty, sensuality, and spirituality while drawing inspiration from old Indian stories. Her works of art honour the female form and Shakti, the cosmic feminine energy that serves as the catalyst for all creation and annihilation.
A wide variety of artworks are on display in the exhibition, including 15 pieces that were painstakingly embroidered on untreated canvas fabric using silk and cotton threads, beads, and sequins.
Three substantial paintings on canvas embellished with acrylics, gold, and silver leaf will also be included, along with two mixed-media pieces that combine painting and embroidery. The exquisite works of art by Kohli are a visual narrative that skillfully weaves together different facets of life, spirituality, and the wisdom of legendary weaving saints.
