Man jumps in front of Delhi Metro train, dies

A man died allegedly after jumping in front of a moving train at Kailash Colony metro station on Saturday, police said.

Police identified the victim as Ajay Arjun Sharma 25, a resident of East of Kailash.

According to police his body was removed and sent to the hospital. The police’s crime team was informed and the CCTV footage is being collected. Metro trains are running.

Police saids that proceedings under Section 174 (police to enquire and report on suicide, etc) of the CrPC are being initiated.
This is not the first case of a suicide attempt at Delhi metro station. As per the available data released by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), 83 people tried to commit suicide by jumping before a Delhi Metro train in 2019. Of them, 26 were successful in taking their own lives. The CISF took over security at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in 2017. At present, CISF personnel are stationed at all the Metro stations in Delhi. (With inputs from PTI)
