The third edition of the Delhi Golf Club League, comprising 22 teams, will get underway at the par-72 Delhi Golf Club from Thursday (October 12).
Each of the 22 teams will consist of 21 players, taking the total field of players to 462.
The competition will be on a four-ball better ball Matchplay Format, where two teams of two players each compete against each other and the one with the lowest score wins.
“Delhi Golf Club’s sole objective is promotion of Indian golf and the way the League is structured, it delivers on its key objectives of promoting talent and developing camaraderie between the members. The tremendous response received this year is a testament to its success” said Raj Khanna, the Captain of Delhi Golf Club, at a media briefing.
Sharat Mohan, Chairman of the tournament committee, said that they have kept the format simple to ensure more popularity.
“Golf is now an Olympic sport and to ensure talent is given a chance to flourish and be acknowledged, we have kept the format simple and taken measures to ensure a level-playing field. The league is also inclusive with senior members playing alongside juniors and ladies, and the regular golfers of course. As a result the golfing ecosystem within the club is getting enriched through this tournament,” said Mohan.
The inaugural season in 2021 witnessed 18 teams in competition while 20 teams took part in the 2022 edition of the League.
The final of the tournament will be held on November 4.
