The Monsoon Edition of the Delhi Literature Festival is set to captivate book lovers and culture enthusiasts this weekend, from July 27 to 28, at the historic Bikaner House near India Gate. Running from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on both days, the festival promises an enriching experience with a lineup of bestselling authors, renowned poets, and notable dignitaries.

The festival will be inaugurated on Saturday, July 27, with a distinguished panel of guests, including Chief Guest Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Culture & Tourism, Government of India. The Guests of Honour include Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament, Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahney (Padma Shri), Member of Parliament, entrepreneur, educationist, and social worker Sushri Bansuri Swaraj,  Member of Parliament, Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairman, NDMC, Dr Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA, and Sanjay Mago, CEO of Om Books Group.

Day one of the festival features a series of engaging sessions with bestselling authors. Vicram Sharma will present his book Ayurveda Advantage: An Ancient Science for Modern Living (Penguin), offering insights into the relevance of ancient practices in today’s world. Following this, Abhay K, an author and diplomat, will discuss his popular work Monsoon & The Six Seasons – Ritusamhara (Bloomsbury).

The day will also include Hindi poetry sessions, curated by Vani Prakashan, featuring Dr Deepak Kumar Jaiswal, an author and former bureaucrat. The day’s events will conclude with the Kavi Manch, a lively session of poetry and humour themed around the monsoon season.

The second day of the festival promises more engaging content with a focus on topical issues. Notable sessions include a discussion on Maya, Modi & Azad: Dalit Politics in the Time of Hindutva (Harper Collins) by Sudha Pai & Sajjan Kumar, followed by Dr Rakhshanda Jalil’s session on Love in the Time of Hate (Simon & Schuster).

Dr. R. Balasubramaniam (Balu), a development scholar and public policy advocate, will delve into the Leadership Legacy of Narendra Modi (Penguin), offering insights into leadership and development. His works have garnered attention from the highest echelons of government, with releases by the Prime Minister himself.

A highly anticipated session features Vikas Swarup, the acclaimed author of Slumdog Millionaire, discussing his latest bestseller The Girl with Seven Lives (Simon & Schuster). He will be in conversation with Sonia Singh, Media Leader at NDTV and an accomplished author.

The festival will conclude with an inspiring session on My First Sudha Murty Collection (Puffin), where Sudha Murty (Padma Bhushan), an esteemed educator, author, philanthropist, and Chairperson of the Murty Trust, will engage in a conversation with Dr Anurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of BW Businessworld.

In addition to the literary sessions, attendees can enjoy live musical performances on the second day, enhancing the cultural ambience of the festival.
