Best of theatre


What: The Old World Theatre Festival is back with its 16th edition and will bring together the best of Indian plays from multiple cities. Over a period of nine days, 15 plays, along with workshops, will bring theatre enthusiasts closer to the stage. This edition offers a selection from the best contemporary theatre in India, highlighting myriad themes. Immigration and displacement, the relationship between women and their sons, a bittersweet comedy about womanhood, sisterhood and the big fat Indian wedding, a 360-degree immersive experience of the streets of India, the B grade film universe, exploration of the Indian situation through a multi-arts experience that combines live music with the visual arts and much more.

What: Wondering about the latest trends in furniture and home décor this festive season? Here’s an exhibition that brings together the best of home accessories. Titled Housefull, the exhibition by Ramola Bachchan — a noted name in curating fashion and lifestyle exhibitions — will have established brands like MAC Bruzae, 3M India, Murano Glass, Lexicon Art Gallery, Devika Diwan, Arty Aunt, Vanessa Homez and Gallery Splash, as participants. This two-day home decor show will exhibit the accessories, artworks, soft furnishing, lighting, rugs, outdoor furniture and gift items of both, luxury and consumer-friendly brands. The fifth edition this year is scheduled pre-Diwali, which is a perfect time to shop for shopping.

Circus bonanza


What: Here’s some good news for all the Delhites. World renowned circus group, Cirque du Soleil, is all set to debut in India with the world premiere of its 43rd production, Bazzar. Recognised world over, the Canadian entertainment company seeks to evoke emotions and imagination. From spectacular acrobatics, foot-stomping music, dance and drama to comedy and magical lighting, Bazzar promises to bring together mesmerising performances. Performed in over 60 countries, it will take the audience to a magical world through the visuals and costumes. Cirque du Soleil stands for ambition, fitness, precision, balance, innovation, emotion and positive energy. Register to witness their jaw-dropping acts.

Music in the moonlight


What: Immerse yourself in a specially crafted evening of music and dance under the moonlight. Teamwork Arts is back with the second season of Under the Banyan Tree on a Full Moon Night where the artists will be performing under the banyan tree with the Qutub Minar in the background. The audience will get to enjoy the performance in a baithak style and will also get the opportunity to engage with the musicians as well. The concert will feature veteran singer Venkatraman. A tribute to the ghazal tradition will be followed by readings from Ghalib’s poems by Murad Ali. The evening will conclude with a performance by Vidya Shah, who will celebrate the divas of ghazaI.

Spirit of Urdu

What: Urdu is a language synonymous with grace and beauty. Celebrating the eloquence of Urdu, Jashn-e-Rekhta is back with its fifth edition in the capital. Aimed at preserving and promoting the language, literature and culture, the three-day festival will hold a myriad of events. From ghazals, Sufi music, Dastaangoi and qawwali to panel discussions, calligraphy, exhibition and mouth-watering delicacies, the festival has it all. The past editions have seen active participation from prominent faces of Urdu film, music and TV fraternity to celebrate the rich and colourful heritage of the language. Join in to experience this fiesta of Urdu culture which promises to be bigger and better.
