Art for a cause
What: ‘Women’ – as the title suggests, the solo work of paintings by Shivani Soni, portrays the positive aspects and beautiful moments in the life of a woman. As an artist, Soni feels it is her social responsibility to show the feelings of a positive and confident woman to the world. In addition, a fraction of the profit that will be made from the exhibition will be donated to empower 18 village women of the Dewas district through ASRA — an NGO project.

What: Saurav Parasrampuria, a 21-year-old, has had one dream since his childhood — to go to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Just when he is about to leave for his MIT interview, a crisis hits him. He gets to know that his 27-year-old brother is suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder commonly known as multiple personality disorder. Faced with the dilemma of choosing between his career and his brother, he chooses his brother.
What follows is mayhem! Saurav starts facing difficulty in handling Kapil and his other two personalities with each having their respective quirks. However, after a few months, Saurav’s genius mind discovers that Kapil and his personalities have a hidden talent.
Thus, begins the journey of Saurav to help his brother make this disorder a boon for him. Will he succeed in the biggest examination of his life? Will Kapil be able to gain control of his life again? To know more watch ‘Kaise Karenge?’ a comedy drama starring Darsheel Safary.

What: Titled ‘The Needle Reverence’, here’s an exhibition of Kanthas — an ancient Indian hand embroidery, which is said to have originated in Murshidabad, Bengal — from the late 19th century till pre-independence; and contemporary Kantha created in the 1990s, initiated by the renowned sculptor, the late Meera Mukherjee. Kantha embroidery showcases elements of nature such as the sun, the tree of life, oceans, animals and the cosmic universe. Day to day life was the biggest source of inspiration behind the art work. The motifs were either figurative – depicting religious themes and myths, narrating stories and folklore — or abstract with borders and geometrical patterns. So, drop by to get a glimpse of this craft that has been a source of economic independence for rural women for decades now.
