Odia Fest

What: In the last century, Odia theatre has had an interesting journey through trials, tribulations and jubilations. Odisha’s history and heritage has been the backdrop for the plots of wonderful, live portrayals of sublime, poetic Odia life. Bringing this together, the three-day Odia theatre festival in Delhi endeavor to bring the best of Odia theatre for the people of Delhi and the visitors to the capital. Directed by Anant Mahapatra, three plays will be staged – Sagar Manthan, Sei Teeni Jana and Goitha Baba. The respective themes are an adaptation of “Inspector Calls’ by JB Priestley, a social commentary and a satire on Godmen respectively. U-sher in the romance of Delhi in winter with these plays.

Screening classic

What: Featuring a rare and rich ensemble of movies by directors from around the world, the fourth edition of Navrasa Duende World Movie Festival is back. The festival aims to bring back 100 years of world movies from Sweden, Iran, China, Poland, Germany Russia, Italy, France, USA, Japan, India etc. The festival includes a collection of a vast variety of genres ranging from movies that were considered to be milestones of the Silent Era, Poetic Realistic Era pioneered by France, Neo-realistic Era of Italy, French Wave of Cinematic Ultra Realism, Invaluable Works of Hollywood/ Independent Cinema Directors and some of the contemporary blockbuster movies as well.

Music in the moonlight

What: Immerse yourself in a specially crafted evening of music with the November edition of ‘Under the Banyan Tree on a Full Moon Night’. This edition will paint the ‘Soundscapes’ of India — the natural and human-made sounds which define this bustling, thriving amalgamation of cultures, languages and traditions. The first performer of the evening, Aditi Ramesh, is a jazz/blues Carnatic vocalist, songwriter, bandleader and producer from Mumbai. This will be followed by a performance of Dastaan Live, an art-rock project that brings together the world of the aural and the visual to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience for audiences to create spaces for dialogue and interpretations, and to compel people, above all, to think. Enjoy the chance to witness performances by musicians under the tranquil repose of a banyan tree with minarets of the iconic Qutub Minar as the backdrop.
