Contemporary art galleries from Mumbai have come together for a group exhibition titled Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, currently on view at Method Delhi. The show opened today and will run until May 18, at the gallery’s Defence Colony location.
Organised by Method, which operates galleries in both Mumbai and Delhi, the exhibition features a range of works from artists represented by more than 20 Mumbai-based galleries. The aim is to present a cross-section of current art practices from the city, brought together under a theme of creative exchange and community.
Participating galleries include Chemould Prescott Road, Chatterjee & Lal, Experimenter, Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Sakshi Gallery, Tarq, Tao, Art & Soul, and several others. Each gallery has contributed works by artists it represents. The exhibition’s title references the 1977 Hindi film song “Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost” and suggests the arrival of Mumbai’s art scene in the capital through collaborative means.

Sahil Arora, founder and curator of Method, said the exhibition is intended to build connections between the art communities of Mumbai and Delhi. “This is more than just an exhibition; it’s an opportunity for Mumbai’s thriving art scene to make its presence felt in Delhi,” he said in a statement.
Artists featured in the show include Mithu Sen, Dhruvi Acharya, Gurjeet Singh, Meher Afroz Vahid, Priyanka Choudhary, Sameer Kulavoor, and members of the Aravani Art Project, among others. Works span a variety of media and approaches, reflecting each gallery’s curatorial focus.
