The Urvashi Dance Music Art and Cultural Society, in association with the Tapasya Foundation and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will present “Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram”, an evocative dance drama at Kamani Auditorium, Mandi House, on November 5, at 6:00 PM. Directed by esteemed Kathak exponent Rekha Mehra, the performance aims to portray the virtues and values embodied by Lord Rama through a fusion of dance and drama.
This production, choreographed by renowned artists Guru Ajay Bhatt and Amrapali Bhandari, blends classical and contemporary dance forms to narrate the life of Lord Rama, often referred to as “Maryada Purushottam”, the epitome of virtue. Audiences will be taken on a journey through his life, which symbolises moral strength, bravery, and leadership, in an attempt to reflect these values as a source of inspiration in today’s world.
In discussing the event, Mehra explained, “Our aim is to revive the ideals of Shri Ram at a time when they are deeply needed”. She continued, “Honouring Lord Ram is not merely chanting his name; it’s about embodying his values—righteousness, compassion, and respect for all. Through this performance, we hope to promote a vision of society that is clean, just, and free from injustice”.
