Sangeet Samaroh: A festival of dance and music

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will host the 16th Sangeet Samaroh, a two-day festival celebrating Indian classical music and dance, at Kamani Auditorium, from November 6 to 7. The festival will begin at 6:00 PM on both days, featuring renowned artists from across the country.

The opening day, November 6, will showcase Hindustani vocal performances by Nalini Joshi, followed by a Dhrupad vocal performance by the Mallick Brothers, Prashant and Nishant Mallick. Santoor artist Abhay Sopori will also perform.

On November 7, Hindustani vocalist Kalapini Komkali and Kuchipudi dancer Yamini Reddy will present their performances, accompanied by a flute recital by G Raghuraman.

Highlighting the significance of the festival, a spokesperson from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan said, “We aim to bring together the rich diversity of Indian classical arts for audiences in the heart of Delhi”.

The performers will be joined by skilled musicians, including Damodar Lal Ghosh on harmonium, Ustad Akhtar Hasan on tabla,  Gaurav Shankar Upadhayay on pakhawaj,  Abhinay Ravande on harmonium, and Shambhunath Bhattacharyaji on tabla.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the event on November 7 to present the “Bhavan’s Sangeet Shikhar Samman” award.

Invitations for the festival can be collected at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Delhi Emporium, Tamil Sangam, Dilli Haat (INA and Pitampura), Kamani Auditorium, and the Music Department at Delhi University.
