The opulent art and architecture of our nation is testimony to the fact that there were kings, patrons and national leaders who have motivated artists from time to time.
In the exhibition titled ‘Panorama 21’, 15 artists from different states will celebrate 75 years of India’s independence through the display of fresh artworks. Chief guests at the inauguration will be politicians Jaya Jaitley and Maneka Gandhi. The mélange of vibrant hues makes the exhibition one of its kind in today’s times.
Sculptor Murari Kamti, from Andhra Pradesh displays sculptures of Lord Balaji, traditional wall brackets, and idols of Hindu deities carved intricately on wood, thus connecting the audience to the Divine. Seema Parveen from Meerut showcases artworks based on traditional pottery done beautifully on paper with watercolour. Amit Kumar from Noida highlights the need for survival of the tigers through his artworks. Post-Independence, hunting and poaching have pushed the royal beast to the verge of extinction. Meghna Agarwal, from Noida, creates art that raises awareness on global warming and its adverse effects. Delhi’s Anindita Kishore’s artworks revolve around aspects of nature through vibrant hues and enamel. Tapos Das, from Kolkata, has done a brass sculpture on the Divine Goddess Durga. Reba Mandal from Chhattisgarh has artworks based on the Varanasi ghats with acrylic on canvas, as has Punam Rai from the holy city itself. Purnendu Mandal from MP has done brilliant cityscapes based on the city of joy, Kolkata. Geeta Kwatra from Delhi presents mandala paintings representing the cosmos and deities. Delhi’s Pankaj Bharti’s artworks deal with the subconscious mind. Rama Sharma from Gurugram harps on the importance of communication in our fast-paced lives through her sketches.
