Palette Art Gallery is set to celebrate Earth Day with an upcoming exhibition titled “Paradise Regained”, scheduled to open on April 24, 2024.
The anticipated show will feature landscapes re-envisioned as memoirs of experience and fantasy, portrayed through compulsively-detailed, meticulously-painted works. Artists range from the seasoned Paramjit Singh, with over 60 years of experience, to the younger talents from Kerala.
Curator and critic Uma Nair said, “Here will be paintings created in the solitude of artists’ studios, reflecting robust imagination and the beauty of nature’s rhythms across time, climate, and season. These intricate works will delve into contemporary themes of beauty, kindness, cruelty, loneliness, contentment, and loss, while also highlighting the quiet moments of life.”
The artists are expected to foster a dialogue between form and content within the realm of earth studies. Each landscape, though distinct, will serve as a significant memory intertwining with our senses.
Paramjit’s landscapes are expected to unfold like memories across various vistas, while KP Prasad is anticipated to infuse surreal drama reminiscent of his native Kerala.
Veteran artist Shaji Appukuttan is expected to employ overview landscape studies and cinematic perspectives, illuminated with phantomic light fragments.
Sumesh Kumballur’s anticipated moody tree studies are expected to evoke dreamlike sequences, while KP Pradeepkumar is anticipated to capture lighter intensities of native experiences.
Sanam Narayan is expected to weave philosophical threads and literary references to create a dialogue between the mythical and fantastical.
In anticipation of “Paradise Regained”, Palette Art Gallery is poised to orchestrate a melodic tapestry of perspectives, urging us to preserve and savor Earth’s beauty. On the upcoming Earth Day, these landscapes are expected to echo the essential rhythms of landscapes worldwide, reminding us that amidst the rifts of war, they sing earth songs, uniting us all.
