Room with a view: A solo exhibition

Artist Durga Kainthola has unveiled her latest solo exhibition titled “Room with a view” at the Triveni Art Gallery.

It began on January 24 and will be on display till February 4.

Born and based in New Delhi, Durga is a distinguished artist with a Bachelor and Master degree in Fine Arts. She pursued her BFA at Sir J.J School of Art (Mumbai/1987) and completed her MFA at M.S. University (Vadodara/1989).

In her statement, she shared, “The surface I work on is a theatrical stage. I am fascinated with a hybrid mix of styles – ranging from impressionist to surrealist, classical to folk, digital to miniatures.”

Her practice embodies a juxtaposition of the old and the new, seamlessly blending classical and contemporary elements.

Employing various techniques and mediums such as metal, terracotta, paper, gouache, digital, silkscreen, silver, and gold, Durga’s artworks reflect a fusion of traditional and modern influences.

Her inspirations, drawn from diverse cultures and traditions around the world, transcend borders and manifest in her vibrant and evocative compositions.

This exhibition promises to offer viewers a captivating journey through the artist’s unique perspective, inviting them to explore the intersection of art, culture, and history.
