The IIC Art Gallery is hosting a 10-day exhibition “Tangible Conversation and Intangible Heritage”, which will highlight Lonar Crater’s cultural landscape, as well as, the InterGlobe Foundation’s work conserving and reviving neglected musical instruments (Shreekhol, Taus, and Nafiri).

Shyam Saran, President of the India International Centre, and Rohini Bhatia, Chairperson of the InterGlobe Foundation, officially opened the event on May 26.

The exhibition features images, films, installations, and visual displays that highlight the rich cultural heritage of India. The three main pillars of cultural heritage that the exhibition focuses on are society, tangible heritage, and intangible heritage.

It will also emphasize the role that public-private partnerships play in fostering an environment where heritage preservation and conservation can flourish and provide livelihoods for communities.

Below are the themes that will be the focus of the exhibition:

Beyond the geological magnificence: Swapna Joshi’s The Cultural Landscape of Lonar Crater, with images by Ashay Tulalwar.

Investigating the Unknown: The projects and research carried out by the chosen fellows on the subject of “Reviving the Lesser Known and Sidelined Musical Instruments” are on display at the exhibition.

Collaborations and communities: It highlights major projects such as the conservation and restoration of Abdur Rahim Khan-I-Khanan’s tomb in Delhi and the restoration of ‘Indra Kund’, a heritage stepwell in Rajasthan

Diversity and inclusivity: The theme highlights culturally and aesthetically significant sculptures, lost dance forms, and how women have been represented throughout India’s history. A series of photographs, a short demonstration of various dance mudras, and installations are on exhibit.

On display are photographs, texts, instruments, and short video films. Reviving the Lesser-Known and Sidelined Musical Instruments by Alokparna Das, with photographs by Jibin George.
