Mirza Asadullah Beg Khan Ghalib has again been summoned by a court, but after 150 years of his death.
A filmmaker, in order to delay his rival’s film release, claims that the lyrics featured in the movie are offensive and thus the lyricist, Mirza Ghalib is called in a courtroom of the 21st century.
His old cases are reopened, charges of being a drunkard, having an extramarital affair and being in a debt of Rs 12,000 are hurled against the bard.
The play written by Danish Iqbal, within a time span of two hours covers the historical aspects of Mirza’s life along with the issues of the 21st century. Directed by Manisha Sinha and produced by Keshav Raina, the play moving along with the politics of today’s India, brings back to life the lost tales from a long gone era, and the audience is left with a mirror to realize and laugh at.
