Dhoomimal Gallery and Gallery Silver Scapes are set to host The Tutelage, an exclusive two-day exhibition at Travancore Palace, from November 9 to 10. This event will showcase the extensive works of Bimal Das Gupta, India’s pioneering abstractionist, covering six decades of his contributions to Indian art.

The exhibition highlights Das Gupta’s departure from figurative styles prevalent in post-independence India, beginning in the 1930s, and his role in redefining modern Indian art through abstraction. Known for his experimental use of watercolours, acrylics, and other mediums, Das Gupta’s work paved the way for future artists in India’s abstraction movement. Nearly three decades after his passing, The Tutelage aims to honour his legacy and emphasize his lasting impact.

The event will feature art walks and panel discussions, providing audiences with insights into Das Gupta’s work and his influence on Indian abstract art.
