Tilonia Bazaar – A celebration of Indian handloom

The Triveni Kala Sangan is hosting the Tilonia Bazaar from February 8 till February 11 after a gap of a year. The festival is a celebration of Indian handloom and handicrafts.

Tilonia sells its new selection of comfort apparel – “Aaram” including bags for all reasons, home linen and furnishings, wooden furniture and many handcrafted products, combining beauty with utility; reminding us that craft was an intrinsic part of life and living.

Tilonia Bazaar has been able to convince people through the years that craft is livelihood for those who produce and an integral part of development of rural India. The Bazaar has also kept, traditional skills alive.

Work has grown from one village to 5 districts and 48 villages in Rajasthan. In the course of its history, 25000 artisans have got employment and supplementary income. Dying crafts and skills have been revived.

Traditional skills have made use of alternative technology, blacksmiths now make geodesic domes and parabolic solar cookers. The leather workers have replaced leather buckets for irrigation with leather backs for chairs, bags, jootis and modern accessories.
