The Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Tripura, will host the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026, a three-day international exhibition celebrating the state’s renowned Queen Pineapple and agricultural heritage. The festival will be held from June 27 to 29 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi, coinciding with International Pineapple Day on June 27.
The event will bring together farmers, policymakers, trade buyers and international delegates to promote Tripura’s GI-tagged Queen Pineapple while highlighting the state’s agricultural potential and cultural identity. Senior dignitaries, including Union and state ministers, are expected to attend, while five pineapple farmers from Tripura will be felicitated. Around 25 stalls from across the state will showcase fresh produce, processed products and agricultural innovations.
Alongside the festival, the state will highlight Mission Queen Pineapple Tripura, a Rs 236-crore initiative launched to expand pineapple cultivation, strengthen post-harvest infrastructure and improve farm-to-market connectivity. The mission includes plans for pack houses, ripening chambers, refrigerated transport, GI labelling facilities and food safety infrastructure.
The festival will also showcase emerging opportunities in pineapple-based industries, including bromelain extraction for pharmaceutical use, value-added food products such as jams, juices and candies, and pineapple leaf fibre for sustainable textiles and home décor. Women Self Help Groups from tribal communities are expected to play a key role in the value-addition segment.
Speaking about the initiative, Ratan Lal Nath, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Government of Tripura, said, “Tripura’s Queen Pineapple has always been special and our farmers have known this for generations. What we are doing now is simply making sure the rest of the world knows it too. This festival is our way of building real, lasting connections between our farmers and the global market.”
The festival is open to the public, media and trade buyers, with free entry.
