VAMA is set to be a vibrant celebration of diverse artistic expressions, featuring an impressive collection of paintings, drawings, graphics, photography, ceramics, and sculptures by contemporary women artists.

This exhibition aims to provide a platform for these talented individuals to share their unique perspectives, narratives, and artistic visions with the broader community.

This year the artist list includes Aarti Kashayap, Arti Malik, Alpna Mahajan, Anita Tanwar, Anjali Singh, Anju Kaushik, Avneet Chawla, Annu Gupta, Avani Bakaya, Bula Bhattacharya, Dipa Patowary, Divya Gupta, Gogi Sarojpal, Gulistaan, Gulbahar, Hemavathy Guha, Him Rajani Nagar, Indu Tripathi, Kanchan Chander, Kezia Khan, Madhu, Meena Deora, Neeti Joshi, Nitiksha Dawar, Nusrat Jahan, Preeti Singh, Priyanshu Chaurasia, Renu Jain, Saloni Tondak, Santosh Jain, Seema Mohaley, Shobha Baroota, Simmi Khanna, Sonam Chaprana, Tanya Rana, Timsi Gupta, and Vandana.

Her artwork strives to encapsulate the dynamics, gestures, emotions, and expressions of individuals. Vandana Kumari will be presenting two of her paintings. The first one ‘Empowering the Girl Child’ depicts the girl child’s perspective, this artwork portrays societal challenges and pressures that shape their lives prematurely, turning them into commodities. It advocates for the lifelong liberation of women globally.

The second painting ‘Immersed in Fantasy’ addressing persistent social issues rooted in generational patriarchy and societal expectations, this piece sheds light on various forms of inequality impacting women’s lives. It specifically explores issues like rape, abuse, harassment, and the enduring psychological traumas they cause. Alpna Mahajan’s sculptures embody daily activities, encouraging individuals to cultivate positive thoughts, suppress negativity, and intertwine these elements for a cohesive impact. The human forms within the artwork reflect a connection with their surroundings, displaying realistic characteristics.

Saurabh Bharadwaj, Minister of Art and Culture, Government of the NCT, Delhi, will be present as a chief guest at the VAMA inaugural event. His participation underscores the government’s commitment to promoting and recognising the significant contributions of women artists in the cultural landscape of Delhi.
