Amid a cloud of confusion around the PG entrance examinations, the entrance tests for UG courses are lingering on in phases. The datesheet for the examinations was released on th 8 August but there hasn’t been any update about the admit cards with just four days left for the exams to begin.
The uncertainty around the entrance exams has left its aspirants stressed.
Rimjhim Sarma, a student appearing for the CUET, told Patriot that at a time when the students should devote themselves to revisions, they are worried about the release of admit cards. While Priyam Bora, a former student of Lady Shri Ram College for Women is of the opinion that NTA not releasing the list of examination centres and admit cards for CUET is mentally hampering, given the stress of the upcoming exams, it’s also a “burden” as the exam “will matter a lot in their future endeavours”.
Deepshi Chowdhury, another student preparing for the CUET PG entrance exams, said that a lot of our anxiety relating to entrance exams remains invisible – having printouts of admit card and other documents ready, figuring out the exact route to the centre and how long it takes to reach there. “It is not as simple as going to your college and sitting for an exam in a familiar setting. The centres are often at remote locations which can only be easily accessed by cars. As a person who is usually not able to afford cabs and who doesn’t have a car at home, I felt extremely uneasy to know this”, stated Deepshi.
“Yet I felt it would be okay if I had a plan for the day of the exam. But with the admit cards and list of centres nowhere in the picture, even though the CUET exams start from next week, I feel extremely anxious not knowing where I might have to go early in the morning. The possibility that anything could go wrong which might make it difficult to reach the exam centre on time really worries me. More than this, imagining the situation of women students with lesser finances makes me feel that our education system as a whole is not inconsiderate at all”, she added.
The delay in the release of admit cards have resulted in a situation of panic for the students residing in the non-urban settings. No one knows what the examination city would be. Keeping in mind the condition of Indian railways as well, NTA is just increasing the examination pressure and anxiety.
