The Delhi High Court has instructed Twitter to disclose essential subscriber information, such as e-mails, IP addresses, and phone numbers, of certain users who allegedly shared clips from Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film “Jawan.”

This decision follows a lawsuit filed by Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd, the film’s producer.

The court had previously ordered YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit to immediately remove unauthorized broadcasts and clips of the film.

The plaintiff’s counsel claimed that five Twitter accounts were posting infringing material and requested the disclosure of the account-users’ details.

Justice C Hari Shankar ordered Twitter to provide this information to the plaintiff’s counsel for further action.

In April, the court had already restrained rogue websites and internet service providers from copying, displaying, or releasing any stills, songs, audio, or video clips related to “Jawan” without a proper license.

The interim order also directed YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit to block and remove all infringing content and clips referred by the production house.

Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd sought to prevent various rogue websites, ISPs, and others from broadcasting or airing any part of “Jawan,” claiming copyright ownership.

Despite the film’s clips and stills being available on various platforms, the plaintiff had not granted a license to broadcast or transmit any part of the film. “Jawan” is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 7. (With inputs from PTI)
