Mushtaq Khan
Veteran Hindi film actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his supporting and comic roles in films including Welcome, Hera Pheri and Rowdy Rathore, died on Thursday at the age of 56 after battling lung cancer.
His business partner Shivam confirmed his death, saying Khan died around 7 pm on Thursday.
“He had been detected with lung cancer earlier and had got well. However, it relapsed eight days back and he had to be admitted to the hospital. It was last-stage cancer,” Shivam said.
Khan was a familiar face in Hindi cinema and worked predominantly as a character actor. Over the years, he shared screen space with several leading actors and appeared in a wide range of comedy, drama and action films.
He gained particular recognition for his role in Welcome (2007), starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. His dialogue about his artificial leg and his past as a hockey player became one of the film’s memorable comic moments.
Khan also featured in films such as Hera Pheri (2000) and Rowdy Rathore, while his later credits included Gadar 2, Badhaai Do and Stree 2.
Beyond films, Khan worked extensively in television. He appeared in several popular shows, including Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi.
With a career spanning decades, Khan remained a recognisable supporting presence in Hindi entertainment, particularly for his comic timing and character-driven performances.
