Delhi defeated Nagaland by eight wickets in a Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy match at the Kasiga College Ground in Dehradun on Thursday.
Batting first, Nagaland scored 105/9 in 20 overs with opener Sedezhalie Rupero top-scoring with 27.
The Delhi bowlers were on the money, ensuring a check on the Nagaland batsmen.
Pace bowler Navdeep Saini (2/31), leg-spinner Suyash Sharma (2/18), off-spinners Shivank Vashisht (1/14) and Lalit Yadav (1/11), and medium-pacer Dev Lakra (1/10) shared wickets as Nagaland were restricted to 105/9 in 20 overs.
The Delhi batting had it easy, chasing the target in 13.5 overs for the loss of two wickets.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat made 37 off 32 balls while skipper Yash Dhull made 41 not out off 26 balls (6x4s, 1 x6). Opener Priyansh Arya scored 18.
The win put Delhi on top of the points table in Group E with 10 points from three matches. They are ahead of Tamil Nadu, with same number of points from three games, thanks to a better net run rate (NRR).
Delhi’s NRR is +1.314 as compared to Tamil Nadu’s +0.900.
Delhi’s next match is against Karnataka on Saturday.
Brief scores: Nagaland 105/9 in 20 overs (Sedezhalie Rupero 27, Navdeep Saini 2/31, leg-spinner Suyash Sharma 2/18) lost to Delhi 107/2 in 13.5 overs (Anuj Rawat 37, Yasha Dhull 41 not out) by eight wickets.
