The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced that the first edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) will take place in the latter half of August.
The T20 tournament, which will feature both men’s and women’s matches, is set to be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
During the franchise auction on Sunday, six men’s teams were sold for a total of Rs 49.65 crore.
The top four bidders for the men’s franchises automatically secured women’s teams as well, which, according to the DDCA, enhances gender inclusivity within the league.

In its inaugural season, the DPL will host 40 matches in total, with 33 games in the men’s category and 7 in the women’s.
“I am thrilled to announce the launch of the first season of the Delhi Premier League, aimed at offering equal opportunities for both male and female cricketers,” said DDCA President Rohan Jaitley.
He further added, “The DDCA’s mission has always been to foster talent that can excel for both the state team and the country, and the Delhi Premier League marks a significant step forward in that direction”. (With inputs from PTI)
