Hardik Pandya’s exceptional bowling in the ICC T20 World Cup has effectively silenced his critics and showcased his ability to perform under pressure. His path to this success has been filled with challenges, and many questioned his dedication to bowling.

Difficulties in IPL 2024

During IPL 2024, Pandya’s performance was underwhelming. He bowled sporadically and had a high economy rate. Despite this, the Indian team management, particularly bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, maintained their faith in him, acknowledging his relentless work ethic and confidence.

“Hardik never lost faith in himself,” Mhambrey remarked. “He was just out of rhythm, which can happen to any bowler. He kept working hard, and we knew he would find his form again.”

Breakthrough in the T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup has marked a significant turnaround for Pandya. He has emerged as one of India’s leading wicket-takers, delivering consistently in every match. With seven wickets at an impressive economy rate of 5.41 and an average of 9.28, Pandya has been pivotal to India’s performance. His proficiency with the short ball, particularly against teams like Pakistan and the USA, has been a crucial asset.

Crucial Role Ahead

With India including an extra spinner in their squad, Pandya’s role as a seam-bowling all-rounder becomes even more vital. His presence is crucial, especially if India opts to play just two frontline pacers.
