BYD Sealion 7 set for India launch on Feb 17: Specs, features, and expected price

BYD Sealion 7: BYD is gearing up to launch its new electric SUV, the Sealion 7, in India on February 17, 2025. Unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, the Sealion 7 is now available for booking with a deposit of Rs 70,000. Early adopters benefit from a 7-year/1.5 lakh km warranty, a complimentary 7 kW home charger for the first 70 buyers, and a matching Rs 70,000 contribution from BYD.

Built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0, the Sealion 7 boasts a design inspired by sea lions diving into water, featuring sharp lines and distinctive five-spoke alloy wheels. The front showcases angular headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, complemented by vents and sizable air intakes. Side profiles reveal sharp creases, aerodynamically designed wheels, flush door handles, and prominent wheel arch cladding. The rear is adorned with a sleek roof-mounted spoiler, connected LED taillights, and an additional lip spoiler on the tailgate.

The Sealion 7 will be available in two variants: Premium and Performance. Both are equipped with an 82.56 kWh battery pack. The Premium variant features a single motor with a rear-wheel-drive setup, delivering 313 PS and 380 Nm of torque, and offers a claimed range of 567 km on a full charge. The Performance variant comes with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, producing 530 PS and 690 Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 542 km.

Inside, the Sealion 7 offers a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 12-speaker sound system, a heads-up display, and a panoramic glass roof. The front seats are electrically adjustable with heating and ventilation functions. Safety features include 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera, tire pressure monitoring, parking sensors, and advanced driver assistance systems like rear collision warning and adaptive cruise control.

The Sealion 7 supports DC fast charging, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 24 minutes. Pricing is expected to start around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a competitor to models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
