Google Pixel 9a to launch in India on April 16: Price, offers and more

Google has officially confirmed that its newest mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 9a, will go on sale in India from April 16, 2025. Unveiled earlier this month, the Pixel 9a joins the brand’s widely appreciated Pixel A-series, renowned for offering high-end features at a more accessible price point.

The Pixel 9a carries a price tag of Rs 49,999 in India and will be available in three colour variants: Iris (Blue), Obsidian (Black), and Porcelain (White). It will be sold online via Flipkart and in select offline retail outlets including Reliance Digital and Tata Croma. Launch promotions include an instant discount of Rs 3,000 on select bank cards and no-cost EMI options for up to 24 months.

The Pixel 9a sports a 6.3-inch Actua display with a peak brightness of 2,700 nits and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Under the hood, it is powered by the Tensor G4 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

Constructed with a composite matte glass back and a satin metal frame, the device weighs 185.9 grams and is 8.9mm thick. It is equipped with a 5,100mAh battery supporting 23W wired charging and Qi wireless charging. The phone also carries an IP68 rating for resistance to water and dust.

Running on Android 15, the Pixel 9a will receive seven years of OS updates, security patches, and Pixel Drop feature updates.

In terms of photography, the Pixel 9a features a dual-camera setup comprising a 48MP primary sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens. The front-facing camera is a 13MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The A-series now includes Macro Focus for the first time, alongside AI-driven computational photography tools such as Add Me, Best Take, Magic Editor, Night Sight, Astrophotography, Panorama with Night Sight, and Magic Eraser.

Gemini AI comes built-in, serving as a smart assistant across Google services like Maps, Calendar, and YouTube. Gemini Live introduces conversational interactions, with upcoming enhancements including video and screen-sharing support via Gemini Advanced.

Other AI features include Circle to Search and Pixel Studio. Safety features are also a key focus, with the phone offering Car Crash Detection, Theft Detection, and live location sharing through Find My Device. Family-focused tools include screen time management, app usage insights, and a School Time mode via Google Family Link.

Connectivity options comprise 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. The Pixel 9a also offers an in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock functionality. Rounding out the hardware are dual stereo speakers, two microphones, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port for charging and data transfer.
