Motorola has entered the race for the world’s slimmest smartphones with the launch of the Motorola X70 Air in China. Measuring just 5.99mm thick, the phone stands among the sleekest devices in the market, directly competing with the iPhone Air, which measures 5.6mm, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, at 5.8mm.

Despite its exceptionally slim frame, the Motorola X70 Air houses a 4,800mAh battery, larger than the 3,900mAh unit on the Galaxy S25 Edge. It supports 68W wired and 20W wireless charging. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor and is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, with storage options of 256GB and 512GB based on UFS 3.1 technology.

According to a report by GSMArena, the X70 Air features a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. As per Lenovo China’s listing, the display offers a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, ensuring clear visibility even in bright outdoor conditions. The phone runs on Android 16 and carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, making it durable despite its slim profile.

In terms of optics, the Motorola X70 Air comes equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera that uses a Samsung sensor, along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera offering a 120-degree field of view. On the front, it sports another 50-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

An almost identical model, the Motorola Edge 70, recently appeared on Motorola Poland’s website. It is expected to launch globally in the coming days and will likely share most of its specifications with the X70 Air, which is expected to remain exclusive to the Chinese market.
