Nothing OS 3.1 update: Nothing has released the OS 3.1 update for the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, bringing significant camera improvements and performance enhancements. A key addition is the Essential Key’s integration with the camera, allowing users to capture content directly — a short press takes notes, while a long press enables voice input.

The update includes several camera upgrades. Zoom interaction is now more intuitive, and the reddish skin tone issue in front-facing camera selfies has been fixed. The rear camera benefits from improved white balance in indoor scenes and enhanced clarity and tone when capturing portraits in backlight conditions. For Phone (3a) Pro users, focusing accuracy at 2x zoom has been improved. Overall camera performance and responsiveness have also been boosted.

Apart from camera improvements, the update enhances the Essential Space experience, improving performance and user interaction. The Always-On Display (AOD) transition animations have been made smoother, and various bug fixes and stability improvements have been implemented for a more reliable user experience.

Nothing confirmed that Essential Space is now available for all Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro users. The company also stated that future updates will introduce new features like Smart Collections, Focused Search, and Flip to Record, which will further enhance the user experience.

Users who haven’t received the update yet can manually check for it under Settings > System > System Updates. Nothing recommends that new buyers of the Phone (3a) series connect to the internet immediately after unboxing and install the latest update to ensure optimal performance.
