Delhi: A 17-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed in the leg by a group of youths following a minor altercation in northwest Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on Saturday evening, police said.
According to officials, the Mangolpuri police received information from Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital around 7 pm regarding the admission of a boy with stab injuries.
The injured teenager, a resident of Mangolpuri, was declared fit for a statement by doctors. He later told police that the incident occurred around 5.30 pm while he was returning from Avantika market.
“When the boy reached near L-block park in Mangolpuri, a group of boys approached him. As he tried to flee, one of them stabbed him in the thigh. The group fled the spot upon seeing him bleeding,” a senior police officer said.
A local resident rushed the injured boy to the hospital. Doctors confirmed that the wounds were consistent with a physical assault involving multiple injuries. However, they clarified that the injuries were restricted to the leg and that the victim is in stable condition and undergoing treatment.
Police stated that the motive behind the attack seems to stem from a minor altercation between the victim and some local boys.
