A 16-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by three friends in East Delhi’s Shakarpur after he refused to treat them for his new phone, police said on Tuesday.
The three suspects, all 16 years old and Class 9 students, have been apprehended in connection with the killing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta stated that a patrol team discovered blood stains near Ramji Samosa shop in Shakarpur around 7:15 pm on Monday, prompting an investigation.
Local residents informed the team that a group of boys had attacked one boy, who was later taken to LNJP Hospital.
The victim, identified as Sachin, lived nearby, and the incident took place in front of witnesses, according to the police.
Sachin succumbed to his injuries at the hospital about an hour later, with two stab wounds found on his back, Gupta said.
Further investigation revealed that Sachin and a friend were returning home after purchasing a mobile phone when they encountered the three boys.
“The group demanded a party to celebrate the new phone, but Sachin refused, leading to an argument and the stabbing,” Gupta added.
A case has been registered under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the BNS at Shakarpur police station, and the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday.
Police identified the accused using CCTV footage and recovered the dagger used in the crime.
