Delhi Traffic Police issued more than 13,000 challans for various traffic violations during intensified checks conducted in its Central and Northern ranges last week, officials said on Sunday.
During its week-long enforcement drive from September 14 to 20, the Central Range Traffic Police issued 5,644 challans for violations of traffic regulations, and clamped 1,048 vehicles for improper and roadside parking by obstructing traffic.
The move aimed to keep carriageways clear, reduce congestion and ensure smoother traffic movement. Special focus was placed on stretches that witnessed recurrent parking violations, the officials said.
The Northern Range Traffic Police also conducted intensified enforcement activities on Friday and Saturday and prosecuted 7,534 violations.
These included 913 cases of driving without a helmet, 391 cases of wrong-side driving, 329 no-entry violations, 166 cases of dangerous driving and 89 cases of drunken driving.

The enforcement drive targeted traffic violations that pose a risk to road users as well as those that disrupt the movement of vehicles, the officials said.
