Man arrested from Jaipur for allegedly cheating Delhi resident of Rs 1 lakh in online stock fraud

The Delhi Police has arrested a 26-year-old man in Jaipur for allegedly defrauding a city resident of Rs 1 lakh in an online stock market scheme, officials said on Thursday.

Police identified the accused, Kuldeep Singh, a Jaipur resident, through analysis of the financial trail, bank KYC documents and CCTV footage.

According to police, the victim was approached through an online group offering stock market-related activities and investment opportunities. The victim was allegedly induced to transfer money and was subsequently cheated of Rs 1 lakh.

Police registered an e-FIR on July 7 based on the complaint filed through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. They analysed the financial trail and found that the cheated amount had been credited into a bank account in Singh’s name. Investigators obtained the account’s KYC documents and Account Opening Form and examined CCTV footage from the bank branch where the money was withdrawn by cheque.

Police said the person seen withdrawing the amount in the CCTV footage matched Singh’s photograph in the KYC documents, providing corroborative evidence linking him to the transaction.

Police went to Jaipur and apprehended Singh following field investigation.

Police said during interrogation, Singh allegedly disclosed his involvement in the fraud and named some associates, whose roles and whereabouts are being verified.

Police recovered a mobile phone from him.
