265 prisoners above 35 years took part in Cervical cancer screening camp at Delhi’s Central Jail number 6

A cervical cancer screening camp was held at Central Jail Number 06, where 265 prisoners over the age of 35 participated, according to an official statement released on Monday.

The screening camp, organized by Delhi Prisons, took place on May 18 in collaboration with AIIMS and the Savera Foundation Trust.

The event was attended by Director General (Prisons) Satish Golcha, along with a distinguished team of doctors from AIIMS, as stated in the release.

Emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts to ensure timely diagnosis, treatment, and management of preventive diseases among inmates, Golcha remarked that this camp exemplifies the commitment of Delhi Prisons and its partners to the health and well-being of inmates, highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare measures in correctional facilities.

During the screening, AIIMS Dean Kaushal Kumar Verma provided an overview of the comprehensive screening program and stressed the importance of proper nutrition and cervical cancer awareness and prevention, the statement added.
